Route of Gokyo, Cho La Pass, and Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake

Mount Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass Trek Itinerary begins after a short and scenic mountain flight to Lukla (2840m) (Gateway to Everest base camp). Mount Everest trek lead through the Rhododendron forests and Tibetan prayer flags, then enjoys the beautiful Sherpa villages of Phakding and Namche Bazar (popular mountain Sherpa town) with local warm hospitality. Similarly, you walk at the green alpine forests, cross the long suspension bridge. Before reaching Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche, the EBC Trek route enter the Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site) to explore the house of rare flora and fauna, explore beautiful Gokyo village and Gokyo Lakes, Cross challenging Cho La Pass. The next day you ahead toward Everest Base Camp (5,364m), it's surrounded by Mount Everest, Khumbu icefalls with the glacier, and the wonderful Himalayan range. Gokyo, Cho La Pass, and Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake Itinerary

Day 01:Arrive in Kathmandu [1,300m]

After you land at the airport, you will complete the necessary documentation and meet with our team representatives at the airport terminal gate. He/she will take you to the hotel and assist you in check-in. Later, in the evening, you will meet other team members over welcome dinner and end the day with lots of laughter. 

Day 02:Kathmandu valley sightseeing or Preparation day

You wake up and have a delicious breakfast. You will then go on a guided sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Swayambhunath, Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. All of these places will show you Nepali art, architecture, and history. In the afternoon, you meet with the trek guide, and he will brief you about the trail. You then arrange all the gears and necessary documents for trekking with your guide.

Day 03:Kathmandu To Flight Lukla [40 mins] & Trek To Phakding [2,610m, 3 hrs]

Today, we will fly to Lukla. The flight will be short and scenic. Upon reaching Lukla, we will meet with the rest of the crew members and begin trekking towards Phakding. Descending through the forested trail, we will reach Phakding crossing a river. 

Day 04:Phakding To Trek Namche Bazaar [3,430m, 5-6 hrs]

Leaving Phakding behind, you trek on a forested trail and reach Monjo. From here, the Sagarmatha National Park begins. Trekking through the national park, you move towards Namche Bazar. While walking through the park, you get to see many species of flora and fauna.

Day 05:Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar [3,430m]

It is your rest day at Namche. You traverse around the village and hike to the viewpoint like Everest View Hotel or Syangboche Airstrip for spectacular views of mountains. You also visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery, where you get to have deep insight into Sherpa's culture & tradition.

Day 06:Namche Bazaar to Phortse Thanga [3,680m, 5-6 hours]

The trail ascends to Khumjung Hill and then descends to the Dudh Koshi in the east. From here, you ascend to top a ridge that offers stunning views of Mt. Khumbila. After visiting Mohang, the birthplace of reincarnated Lama of Rongbuk Monastery of Tibet, you drop down along a sandy path to Phortse Thanga. 

Day 07:Phortse Thanga to Machhermo [4,470m, 4-5 hours]

The trail today gradually ascends towards Machhermo. Trekking through lush forests of rhododendron, you pass by a lovely waterfall and reach Tongba village. Further, the trail climbs and passes by villages like Dole, Labarma, and Luza. You then walk along the Dudh Koshi river and reach Machhermo village for a night stay.

Day 08:Machhermo to Gokyo [4,800m, 4-5 hours]

A quick breakfast, and we descend to the Gokyo Valley. On the way, we cross Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier of the Khumbu region along with breath-taking views of the surrounding. Upon reaching Gokyo, we settle in our guesthouse and have lunch. Later, hike to one of the lakes in the valley to see excellent panoramic views of the Himalayan mountains.

Day 09:Gokyo Valley acclimatization day [4,800m]

Today, we wake up early in the morning and hike up to Gokyo Ri from where we will see the excellent view of the entire region and Himalayan mountains. After soaking the beauty in our memory, we trek back to Gokyo village for the night stay.

Day 10:Gokyo to Thagnak [4,750m, 4-5 hours]

From Gokyo village, you will trek along the edge of a mountain. On the way, you will get to see superb views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Kusum Kanguru, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Taboche, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Makalu, etc. Further, the trail will take you to Thangnak where you will spend the night.

Day 11:Thagnak to Cho La pass [5,367m/17,604ft] to Dzongla [4,840m, 7-8 hours]

Today, you will cross challenging Cho La Pass. It is going to be the most adventurous and fun day. After having breakfast, you will begin ascending on a steep trail full of rocks and ice. From Phedi, you will ascend through a ravine and rugged trail. From the top of the pass, you will get to see breath-taking views of the surrounding. The trail then descends to Dzongla. On the way, you will cross some crevasses.

Day 12:Dzongla to Lobuche [4,940m, 2-3 hours]

The trail ascends through a grassy path while showcasing beautiful views of the Lobuche peak. Further, trekking along a wide river bed, you will reach Lobuche village located at the foot of Lobuche Peak. 

Day 13:Lobuche to Everest Base Camp [5,364m/17,594ft] via Gorak Shep [5,170m, 6-7 hours]

Today, the trail will take us to Everest Base Camp. After having a warm breakfast, we begin trekking gradually along with the view of Khumbu Glacier on our right side. We will reach Gorakshep, which initially used to be the base camp of Everest. The trail then ascends on a relatively rugged and snowy trail to reach Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the base camp, we see the stunning beauty of the region. Later, we will trek back to Gorak Shep for the night stay.

Day 14:Gorak Shep To Hike Kalapathar [5,545m] and back to Pheriche [4,240m, 8-9 hrs]

You wake up early and begin ascending towards Kala Patthar. The trail will include steep climbing on a rugged path. Upon reaching the Kala Patthar, you get to see breath-taking sunrise with 360-degree views of the Everest. After spending some time at the viewpoint, you descend to Pheriche for a night stay. 

Day 15:Pheriche To Trek Namche Bazaar [3,450m, 6 hrs]

After having breakfast, the trail goes down to Pangboche village. We cross the Imja Khola Bridge then climb up to Tengboche. After crossing the Dudh Koshi River Bridge, PhunkiTenga, Tashinga village, and Kyangjuma then finally we arrive at Namche Bazaar.

Day 16:Namche Bazaar To Trek Lukla [2,800m, 5 hrs]

You trek back to Lukla today. Descending steeply through Sagarmatha National Park, you will cross a suspension bridge. The trail will be full of colorful prayer flags, Chortens, mani walls, and small gompas. Going through attractive forests of rhododendron & pine and small villages along with captivating views of snow-capped mountains and astonishing sceneries, you reach Lukla. 

Day 17:Lukla To Fly Back Kathmandu [1,300m, 40 mins]

After having breakfast, we take a morning scenic domestic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, which takes approximately 35 min to arrive at Kathmandu airport. We drop you by private vehicle at the Hotel.

Notices: (Weather in the Himalayan region which may change any at times. (Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu) flight a few hours may be late or one, two or more days may be canceled for bad weather reason. This kind of condition we have to waits a long time for Lukla flight. As this can happen either at the start or end of the trek. This kind of problem we also organize helicopter rescue, the helicopter charge will around USD 3400 where includes 4-5 people per flight. We suggest you; if possible (1-2) extra days manage for this trekking).

Mount Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass Trek Accommodation

Everest Base Camp Trek accommodations are Lodge and Teahouse. Around Kathmandu, we can find a good facility with comfortable accommodation at the Hotel. The Everest Base Camp Trek all accommodations are on the twin-shared basis. During the trek, Himalayan frozen Adventure will manage room with attached washrooms. In the teahouse, we have to share the toilet. Single room is available in Kathmandu and the lower elevation trekking region but might be impossible to higher elevations.

Mount Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass Trek Meals

At the Kathmandu has included only breakfast. During the Everest Base Camp Trek, all meals will be provided. In the Everest region, we can enjoy Nepalese food with international cuisine like Tibetan, Continental, Indian, Tibetan, Italian, etc. Through the trek, we have breakfast/lunch at the teahouse and Dinner will be at the lodge. You can choices different kinds of breakfast, lunch, and dinner by the menu.
