About Ama Dablam Expedition

The most beautiful Ama Dablam in the world is the main attraction for the Khumbu region with technical experience in Himalayan Nepal. Ama Dablam's southwest face is hanging glacier which is like the sacred ornament box. Ama Dablam expedition is vertical walls, the sharp, steep pyramid of ice, traverses, ridges, and with views of the mountain. It's challenging by conditions with enough rock, snow, and ice. These mount first climbers are Barry Bishop, Mike Ward, Wally Romanes, and Mike Gill who was climbed via the southwest ridge in 1961. The Ama Dablam Climbers typically set up three camps along the ridge with camp 3 just below and to the right of the hanging glacier. 

Ama Dablam expedition is situated in the Khumbu region of the Everest base camp path; it lies directly above Tengboche Monastery. Ama Dablam Expedition is difficult more than other climbing peaks Basic mountaineering experiences such as glacier travel, ice-ax arrest, use of ascender, and rappelling are REQUIRED for participation in the Ama Dablam Expedition. The vertical section 15 meters climb is the trickiest part which also called "Yellow Tower". Base Camp to Camp 1 (4,570m to 5,700m)

The Ama Dablam Base Camp located at 4,570m elevation and 14,988ft. Today we climb from Base Camp to Camp 1(4,570m to 5,700m, which is about 1000m distance. The climb is through morainal gravel ridge slope and crosses the South-West ridge then we can found freshwater so sometimes this place also can use by advanced base camp. After 6 - 7 hours climbing reach Camp 1, where you can see a steep rocky area. One day and night spend at camp 1 and we'll return to base camp for final preparation the summit.


Camp 1 to Camp 2 (5950m)

From Camp 1 to Camp 2 is a technical part of climbing, Where we cross the snowy patches and granite slabs. The most challenging part of the expedition is a rock tower which is also called "Yellow Tower". Our climb will be between Camp 1 and the Yellow Tower mostly class 3-4. We have to follow fixed lines and Sherpas fix new ropes. Camp 2 is a narrow exposed area.


Camp 2 to Camp 3 (6,400m)

From Camp 2 to Camp 3 we have to climb 70-degree couloir on the steep ridge. The dangerous Grey Tower rock wall will test your adventure. It's time to use crampons and jumar as a backup where we have to pass the rock and ice. The South-West ridge is can mixed the snowy field. After 4 - 5 hours of climbing we can reach Camp 3.


Camp 3 to Summit (6856m)

Camp 3 is a relatively flat snowfield, which is located in Mushroom Ridge of the big snow. Our summit climbing will be most exposed and cold. The climb is straight up and not need to more technical than before. Today we have to climb 4 hours to reach the summit then 3 hours to return  Camp 3. Sherpa experience guide will fully support your Ama Dablam expedition. Your Ama Dablam can be an amazing experience with difficult explore. 


Notices: (Weather in the Himalayan region which may change any at times. (Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu) flight a few hours may be late or one, two or more days may be canceled for bad weather reason. This kind of condition we have to waits a long time for Lukla flight. As this can happen either at the start or end of the trek. This kind of problem we also organize helicopter rescue, the helicopter charge will around USD 3400 where includes 4-5 people per flight. We suggest you; if possible (1-2) extra days manage for this trekking & Expedition).

When you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, our airport representative will wait for you at the airport, we will display a Himalayan Frozen Adventure with your group name signboard outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel in our car.

After having breakfast, we drive to the domestic airport for Lukla flight. After 35 min scenic flight we arrive at Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla, which is surrounded by a high mountain. Our trek leaves the beautiful village, river and finally, we reach Phakding, where we spend the night.

Our trek will start after having breakfast. The trail pass-through pine forests and Dudh Koshi River then we can enjoy Mount Thamserku (6,608m) view. Our trek continues juniper forests and lush pine then after crossing suspension bridges we arrive at the beautiful Namche Bazaar.

After sweet breakfast, the trail follows the Everest route. We leave beautiful villages of Khumbu Region and cross the Dudh Koshi River Bridge. During the trek, we can enjoy the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam views. We'll climb the steep trail to reach Tengboche Monastery and then reach Debuche.

After having breakfast, our trek continues to Pheriche. Between Debuche and Pheriche there is a beautiful Pangboche village, where surrounded the Everest, Ama Dablam, Kangtaige, Thamserku, Kongde. Finally, we reach Pheriche and spend the night.

Today our expedition guide will give training about climbing technology ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harness, ascender, using ropes, climbing up and down. The guide training will make confidence and successful summit. This night we spend Ama Dablam Base Camp.

We'll start our climbing from Ama Dablam base camp to Camp 1 (5,700m). One day we spend our night at Camp 1 for acclimatization, which easies to return to base camp and preparation for the summit. Ama Dablam expedition has 3 camps, that are difficult to climb. During climbing, we have to use technology for success to the summit. From Camp 1 we follow existing fixed lines and use the new ropes, which is important for ascent and descent. From Climb Camp 1 to Camp 2, we have to be careful at the snow, mixed rock, and ice. Camp 3 is an amazing place to stay, which gives different adventure experiences. From Camp 3 to Summit is our destination, which is relatively less technical. We explore and enjoy our success summit then back to Amadablam base camp.

Today is our expedition end day. We hike down to Pangboche and cross the river and forest. Finally, we reach Namche Bazaar, where available Internet to talk and email to our family. Overnight we spend our night at Namche bazaar.

You trek back to Lukla today. Descending steeply through Sagarmatha National Park, you will cross a suspension bridge. The trail will be full of colorful prayer flags, Chortens, mani walls, and small gompas. Going through attractive forests of rhododendron & pine and small villages along with captivating views of snow-capped mountains and astonishing sceneries, you reach Lukla.

Today, you fly back to Kathmandu after having breakfast. During the flight, you get to see views of the Himalayan Mountains. Upon reaching Kathmandu airport, head to your hotel and freshen up. You are free to explore the market and buy souvenirs to take back with you. Later in the evening, you visit a restaurant to have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Useful Information

Ama Dablam Expedition Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory to have to join an adventurous trip in the Himalayas. It is for your safety. The travel insurance must cover things like illness, medical emergencies, accidents, death, trip cancellation, and loss of personal baggage & items. All costs for Emergency Evacuation must be paid in cash in Nepal unless an insurance company has agreed to pay all the cost on your behalf. Make sure that your travel insurance covers activities in the Himalayas if you are participating in them.

*Note: Foreigners are not allowed to purchase an insurance policy in Nepal. So make sure to purchase good travel insurance in your country, and it is your responsibility to check whether your insurance policy is adequate or not.


Ama Dablam Expedition Accommodation

Ama Dablam Expedition accommodations are Lodge, Teahouse, and Tent/Camp. Around Kathmandu, we can find a good facility with comfortable accommodation at the Hotel. Ama Dablam Expedition, all accommodations are on a twin-shared basis. During the trek, Himalayan frozen Adventure will manage room with attached washrooms. In the teahouse, we have to share the toilet. Single room is available in Kathmandu and the lower elevation trekking region but might be impossible to higher elevations. At the Expedition area, we spend 15 nights at the tent/Camp with meals, where we can use natural preservation tent toilet.

Ama Dablam Expedition Meals

At the Kathmandu have included only breakfast. During the Expedition, all meals will be provided. In the Everest region, we can enjoy Nepalese food with international cuisine like Tibetan, Continental, Indian, Tibetan, Italian, etc. Through the trek, we have breakfast/lunch at the teahouse and Dinner will be at the lodge. You can choices different kinds of breakfast, lunch, and dinner by the menu. During the Expedition area, we provide the freshly-cooked food.

Passport & Visa

A passport with at least six months of validity from the return date is mandatorily needed. You can get the Nepalese visa from the Nepalese Embassies or Consulate in your country. You can also get the Nepalese visa upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Do know that there are few countries that have to apply for the Nepalese visa from their own country. Obtaining your visa is entirely your responsibility.

While booking, make sure to put full and correct passport information so that we can get all the necessary permits, tickets, and pay fees on your behalf. If you do not provide the correct information when you make your booking, we will not be able to make the necessary bookings on your behalf and cannot be held responsible.


Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

AMS or altitude sickness is one of the main risks while traversing in the high altitude. The main region behind getting AMS is when the body doesn't adjust to the lower level, and the result can be deadly. So it is very important to take proper measures on time. Gaining altitude with constant pace and proper acclimatization days will help reduce the chances of getting AMS.

Similarly, you also have to keep yourself hydrated during the trek, therefore, drink enough water and avoid alcoholic drinks as it dehydrates the body. If you are planning to trek in one of the adventurous trails of Nepal then do keep above things in your mind.

October to January is the best season for Ama Dablam Expedition. This Oct - Jan season time the Valley be pleasant days and most cold. From camp 1 the temperatures can be minus 25 C.
